Why Waterproof a Basement?
The best way to maintain or increase your property value is to improve your home through repair, expansion, and remodeling. Basement waterproofing is one of the ways you can help keep your property value high while saving your foundation from potential disastrous situations brought on by rain. If water seeps into your basement, that is a bad sign. Basement leaks can mean your foundation is in need of repair to keep the walls from cracking or growing mold which can be deadly to your family.
There are two ways to waterproof your basement, using either an Interior or Exterior Hydro-Static Pressure Relief System.
Interior Waterproofing System
An interior drain system is the cheaper route, but can still allow some water to come in.
Exterior Waterproofing System
An exterior drain system does not allow any moisture inside nor does it allow any mold to grow inside, which is best for those who are hyper-sensitive to mold. Exterior waterproofing is the recommended way to waterproof a basement.

Is your basement or crawl space causing you problems? Are you experiencing water leaking into your foundation? You may need to call a waterproofing specialist. We have been waterproofing foundations for 30 years in our surrounding areas; Malvern, Paoli, Berwyn, Devon, Wayne, King of Prussia, Newtown Square, Exton, West Chester, Lionville, Downingtown and others. Whether you have a problem with mold, water, or high humidity in your basement, Waterproofing One has a solution for all of your waterproofing issues.
Most basement and crawl space water issues occur from what is called a false water table. When a home is built, a hole is dug in the dirt to lay the foundation. When the foundation is in, dirt is then back-filled around the foundation walls. When this dirt is back-filled, it is not as compact as the surrounding untouched dirt. This less compact dirt around the foundation provides an easy pathway for water to apply pressure to your basement.
As this water applies what we call “hydrostatic pressure” to foundation walls and floors, it eventually finds a way into your basement or crawl space. Most water enters the space where foundation walls meet the concrete floor slab. It may just enter first as humidity, causing damp walls or musty air. These are also signs for you to call a waterproofing specialist. If this standing water or humidity sits in your basement for too long it will begin to grow bacteria and dangerous molds.
